David M. Hancock author page on Amazon.com
David M. Hancock is a writer living in New York City. He works as a web editor for CBS News, and before that was a reporter for The Miami Herald and several Texas newspapers.
David M. Hancock has spent decades trying to decipher the mysterious powers of the authors he especially admires: Ursula K. Le Guin, D.M. Thomas, Roger Zelazny, Philip Pullman, Borges, Garcia Marquez and so many more. You can tell by that list that sci-fi and magical realism are close to his heart.
Only recently has the author felt ready to tell his own stories. Or as Georgia O’Keeffe once said, to make his unknown, known. He’s grateful to Amazon.com for a platform to share his writing.
David M. Hancock follows two pole stars in his own writing endeavors:
1. That a writer must tell the story that only he or she can tell.
2. In the late 1970s, an interviewer asked the playwright Tennessee Williams what advice he would give to young writers. Hancock remembers Mr. Williams’ words because he wrote them down in his journal: “I hope he follows his heart, baby. His poor, frightened heart.”
In April 2014 David M. Hancock collected his gay-themed speculative fiction in “The Man Who Lost His Gayness”. Watch for the short novel “Tricks Gone Bad” coming in March 2015.
